2001
Associates In Christian Counseling was approached
by several pastors and church leaders who were sensing a need to
better minister to those who struggle with unwanted same sex issues
(homosexuality).
Out
of a passion for what God wants to do in Winston-Salem, Dr. Joe
Verga and Kim Whitehurst of ACC, began regular prayer time.
June
2001 Out of this developed monthly
meetings for prayer time, sharing and planning where all those expressing
interest were invited.

A
mountain retreat provided lots of quality time for planning
and organizing as well as time for getting to know one another
on a more personal level.
Our
name, DayBreak, was enthusiastically embraced and our mission
statement was developed. |
February
2002 DayBreak's first area of ministy
began! A Drop-In Group held Thursday
nights for those seeking support for dealing with sexual brokeness
September
30, 2002 DayBreak
recieved non-profit status, and later, permission to operate in
North Carolina under the name “DayBreak”.
